So you’re the learning designer ?
My name is Mikkel and I am the owner and learning designer for Jack Pine Learning, LLC. I started this company to help businesses by improving human performance with engaging and effective learning and development for their employees.
My career in education started with a bachelors in Music Education. I spent six years designing learning and teaching music to K-12 students in Minnesota. I found that this was not my final stop in my career though. The more experience I got designing the more I realized that I loved the design and development of the learning over the facilitation of the learning. I focused my professional development on instructional/learning design through Purdue University’s Learning Design and Technology masters program. I will be completing this degree August 2022!
This blog is an additional opportunity for me to develop knowledge and skills in learning design and learning science while also sharing my experiences with the rest of the learning design community!
Moving past my professional and learning goals, I am married and we had our first baby this year! Charlotte is the sweetest little girl I’ve met. My wife and I have a dog, a cat, and two guinea pigs. When we’re not busy taking care of Charlotte (which let’s face it, is not very often) we love to go hiking, kayaking, biking, read books, play boardgames and video games, and travel.
Last summer we honeymooned in Greece, which was my first time traveling internationally. It was amazing! This summer I took a trip to Israel with 36 people I didn’t know and came out with 36 new friends.
So this is a little about me. I’m looking forward to learning and growing with you all!
